Daystar's Secret Tryst (Tristan)

Sept. 25, 1997 - June 20, 2011

Tristan was the puppy we kept from our very first litter, Bree (below) bred to Ch. Shadow-Wood's the Candyman (Licorice) and he was owned by our daughter, Andrea.  Tristan was born near the beginning of Andrea's dating relationship with her husband, Rich.

Tristan had a beautiful face, but flawed front movement, so he was never shown or bred.  I didn't know anything about choosing puppies when my first litter was born, but Andrea wanted a smart dog who would be easy to train.  Tristan embodied smart and easy to train.  He won his Canine Good Citizen title at 8 months old and spent his life as a beloved companion to Andrea, Rich and their son Tre.

Near the end of the dog's life, Tre did most of the dog walking duties as Tristan was too weak to contend with the rest of the pack in the backyard of our mutual home.  The seven year old boy and 13 year old dog spent hours each week walking around our acreage watching the other dogs play, visiting with the horses, and enjoying the outdoors.  Until the time came when Tristan could no longer stand up on the weak rear legs (arthritis in the back, treated by oral meds for about two years) and finally quit eating and in the last few days even quit eliminating.

Andrea and her husband and son carried him in to our favorite vet on Monday, June 20, after a rough weekend, to say goodbye to the beautiful Tristan.  He will also be missed by the family's other Samoyed, Angel, pictured with Tristan.

Safed Koh's Svyeta Brianna, CD (Bree)
June 19, 1994 - February 12, 2009

Photos taken June, 2008 at her 14th Birthday Party!

Bree was always willing to sit beside you with her head in your lap as long as you would pet her.  All I had to do was smile at her for her to come to me.  She completed her CD obedience title and was trained to the CDX level, but was having trouble jumping by the time she learned all the exercises for the CDX.  She was pointed in the show ring.

Bree was the foundation bitch of Daystar Samoyeds, co-owned with her breeder, Carol Younoszai.  She had three litters of puppies and two champion children, including our girl, Whisper.  She has several champion grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her great-great-great-great-grandchildren were 9 weeks old at her death.  She was a great mother and grandmother and always loved puppies.

Rest in peace, our sweet girl.
